YES!! An 8hr night race on the International (1700m) track at Eastern Creek
Raceway!!
With the support of Tracksa who currently offer the ‘ultimate remote track
light system’ worldwide TEKA invites drivers to bring a team and take on the
country’s best Endurance drivers through the night on 1st May 2010
Previously drivers such as Marcos Ambrose, Jack Perkins, Greg Murphy, Craig Baird, Mick Doohan, Greg Rust, Gary Holt and Paul Morris have turned up to take on the county’s longest kart track.
Teams will arrive throughout the day and secure a comfortable pit area for the long haul and begin socializing. Teams will be given access to Eastern Creek’s smooth practice track before the sun goes down. Around 9pm the track will be altered for the first time in a long time to reflect the most demanding and exhilarating bit of black stuff around. After some practice to familiarize ourselves 35 – 40 teams will line up for a qualifying session.
With the crowd building on the hill just before midnight the green flag will fall, and a combination of Honda and Briggs powered karts will cross the start finish line for the first time. They will continue to circulate, most nose to tail, for 8 long hours until well after sunrise to take the chequered flag!
Each team will complete approximately 261 laps, 450kms, and 16 pit stops a combined total across the field of 9135 laps and 560 pit stops throughout the 8 hours of racing!
Share the cost between a number of team mates, dust off the cobwebs, and even buy, borrow, or steal a kart if need be and BE THERE!

posted 29 Jan 10 2010 Season Updates
There have been some changes to the calendar for 2010, we hope that the majority of the members will be excited about these changes as it should attract more teams to the 2010 season. With these amendments to the schedule we have tried to reduce the travel for TEKA members over the 2010 season and, as a result, Round 3 has been moved from Marulan to Eastern Creek giving the exciting opportunity for TEKA to not only have a night event but have the rare opportunity to race on the 1700m track. Round 8 has also been moved and will now be run at, what some would consider to be TEKA's home track of Newcastle, but this second race will be a little out of the ordinary as we will be running the event backwards on the track! With the a couple of away rounds early and finishing with local tracks it should be a great year.
2010 will also see the adoption of a new fairer point scoring system aimed at giving a better distribution of points and hopefully injecting a bit of excitement into every racing division. TEKA will be replacing the 45-1 point score with a 40-1 system which includes bonus points being awarded to each division for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.
Round 1 this year kicks off with The Orange 550, a 5 hour and 50 minute event that will set the tone for the season as we look at doing something a bit different for every race on the calendar.
Don't forget your now compulsory 1Kg POWDER fire extinguisher which must be easily accessible and visible at the rear of every kart trailer, this is a OH&S requirement under the AKA, every team MUST have at least one and it will be checked during scruitineering. Blake McArthur has offered to supply TEKA members with a 1Kg extinguisher at cost price so look for him at the AGM!

Many are looking forward to a solid 7 hour race around Newcastle, and so they should be! To make the weekend even more pleasurable for competitors, TEKA has arranged a couple of extras.
A roast will be served at the track after qualifying on Saturday late afternoon. We'll endevour to make it early enough so that teams who are staying else-where can pack up and enjoy a couple of light ales and a great feed before they go, without having to wait around too long.
Those who have experienced it before know what a great feed it is! Keep an eye out on the entry form to nominate how many you'll have wanting to eat with us.
There is the opportunity to hang around the track and relax, have a few drinks enjoy the company. If anyone is thinking of staying at the track there is a number of us who will be inside the facility when the gates are locked (seeing as we're not allowed to refer to it as camping).
For those who want something more substantial, we have put aside ten self contained apartments (which sleep four) at Jesmond Villas, and five two bedroom's at Macquarie Serviced Apartments Cardiff. Grand Final – great news, we have made an alteration to the calendar to provide a home Grand Final. TEKA is always interested in it’s members feedback. In respect to this event we have been open to feedback from teams and drivers. The huge amount of interest in local rounds this year as opposed to the away ones is also a reflection of what the members prefer.
Oran Park will host the Grand Final for 08’ on the 22nd November (the same date already allocated to the final round). We continue to experience a huge amount of interest in the local races and it’s important to make the epic final round as accessible as possible.
Lithgow - there is plenty of time to prepare, repair, practice, test, or simply forget karting for a while and relax. It’s bound to be an exciting round, the first round of the run to the final! It will be run as a single day event with practice, qualifying and the races all on Sunday making it easier for some. For anyone who would like to make a weekend of it and practice on Saturday the track is open. Lithgow is well located just an hour and a half from Sydney, camping may be allowed and there is reasonably priced motel accommodation at the end of the street.
TEKA had decided to mix up the formats this year and with a 7hr at Newcastle following this round Lithgow presented the opportunity for a change. A couple of reasons for the format -
- a smaller less technical track lends itself to a shorter race distance
- the most exciting parts of our races are the start and the run to the finish, why not experience that twice
- if anyone has a failure of some sort their weekend is not lost, they have another chance to enjoy the racing and grab some points
Can’t wait!!

Please make sure all your licensing requirements are sorted prior and fill in all appropriate paperwork before the event. Once all the forms are filled out it’s a simple matter of rolling up to scrutineering, passing inspection and handing it all in (with payment if not paid prior) and you’re done!

We have arranged an Italian Feast at Romeo and Juliet's Restaurant! We've made a large booking and are expected to confirm. If competitors could nominate on their entry forms (when available) whether they would like to come to dinner it would be helpful. The costs are reasonable and will include a selection of Toppa (Pizza base with garlic and sauce, apparently a Griffith thing), Pizzas, Pasta and Salad for $22 per person. BYO wine. Party time!
posted 2 May 08 Help move the TEKA series forward!
TEKA are currently running an experimental Briggs & Stratton engine. You may have noticed the kart with CT plates running at Albury and Newcastle. Briggs & Stratton are planning to test a purpose built race engine called The Animal. You can look forward to seeing this 8 horsepower engine running at Round 4 in Griffith. Once TEKA and Briggs & Stratton have worked out all the technical details, a suitable power plant will be selected.
Briggs & Stratton have been in motorsport for nearly as long as they’ve been building engines, but their passion for racing is a little-known secret.
All TEKA members will soon have the opportunity to vote on moving forward with Briggs & Stratton.
The TEKA Briggs & Stratton Information Sheet gives further details.
No need to panic though, we expect Honda engines to be running for several years to come. If you have any questions, comments or wish to learn more please contact the committee.

posted 27 Apr 08 W.A.R...What is it good for!
Obviously the 'team to watch' has proven they’re good – real good!
Last weekend’s event at Newcastle was one of the most amazing races TEKA competitors have seen for a long while. A huge success – so many teams quite obviously enjoying themselves!
There are a number of volunteers who deserve credit for their great contributions! A HUGE thanks go to:
- Wayne Bradwell for taking responsibility for the event
- Allied for entering three teams and introducing new competitors
- Belinda for showing up without Steve and working all weekend to help the event run smoothly
- Chris Blown for running the timing system for the whole event while running his own competitive team
- Darrell Mitchell for preparing a hire kart at short notice introducing another two new competitors to the series
- Bruce Kent for introducing a new team of hire karters (Darrell’s hire kart) who have since provided some extremely positive feedback about the event
- Karen for all the time she committed to licensing new and renewing competitors
- The Flaggies who spent most of the weekend in the most atrocious conditions
- The Refuelers for their tremendous effort keeping us topped up, a big job through six hours of the most difficult conditions.
- Ethan Sydenham for his help in the fuel bay and the weigh station
- Michael Bourke and Mitchell for storing, packing and transporting the huge amount of TEKA gear
- The rest of the committee, their families, and other supporters for all the hard work that’s required to run these events.
For all other competitors you might like to be aware of what’s involved and offer assistance at some point – at the least appreciate the people who are working hard to provide us the series we love, we live!
Congratulations to all the place getters, the Championship appears to have become tighter in both grades. Full race report will come soon.

posted 24/01/08 Albury News
Albury is a highly anticipated Round on our calendar.
Well done to the huge number who have booked, probably realizing the incorrect phone number was listed (now correct). The are only a couple of reserved rooms left. Bear in mind if these go there are others you can book. They just hadn’t been reserved!
I still suggest you get in quickly as this will be a great place to stay. If they cannot accommodate the larger families you’re welcome to rely on our alternative.
Important note – track capacity is 30 karts only!
It is possible we may have up to 37 karts racing at Oran Park. Albury entries will be accepted on a ‘first in’ basis with entry nominations accepted on race day at Oran Park.
The race distances and formats are again really practical and exciting. They have been listed for the entire year in the 08’ calendar section of the website. We will also have the chance to experience some new qualifying formats this year. We are happy to invite any suggestions where this is concerned.
The schedule at Oran Park is extremely tight I suggest if you wish to be included in the event you take note of the timetable and be ready for all that is required of you at the appropriate time!
Most of the forms you need to get under way including scrutineering are available on the website. You should have all these filled out and your kart ready before arriving.

posted 09/01/08 News Flash & Calendar Updates
Hi my name’s Justin and I’m an Endurance Karting addict!
The withdrawals through the holiday period are becoming unbearable. After seriously considering giving up on numerous occasions the highs of last years competition keep me coming back for more of the good stuff in 08’. Looks like I’ll save the thought of giving up the habit for at least another year.
The finish to the 07’ Championship was memorable, the committee, competitors, crews, family and friends of TEKA need to be congratulated on one of the best years Enduro Karting has seen.
Welcome to Gatorz and Norwest Mowers who raced with us for the first time at the last round of 07’ and will be joining us this year along with a few other new teams to be announced.
I hope everyone involved will join us again for the cheapest fix of motorsport available, and make 08’ even more spectacular!
The committee exists for the members and still needs support, if anyone would like to assist in anyway please let us know.
All the planning the committee does is truly in the interest of all competitors and providing the best possible series. To achieve this various things need to be considered, including feedback from the members and their likely responses to certain events. Based on this we have made a couple of important changes to the calendar which are for the better.
1. Puckapunyl has been left out due to the distance members would have to travel and the fact it’s basically out of the way with limited services for an enjoyable trip away. Replacing it will be Griffith in the Riverina district only 5 ½ hours from Sydney. The town is a great place for a holiday and apparently provides the best Italian food the country has to offer.
2. Albury which has an exceptional track and is a beautiful spot to stay will come in at Round 2. We have some fantastic accommodation arranged, there will be more information under Albury in the Calendar section of the site shortly.
3. Lithgow will replace Canberra. Better track, more central and one proved difficult to confirm an event.
4. Last one, and the only date change! (sorry Clive I said there wouldn’t be). It has been brought to our attention that the Newcastle event was scheduled for the weekend of Bathurst 1000 (thanks Tricky Dicky). There is enough interest in that particular event ( it’s the pinnacle of Endurance Racing in Australia) to postpone the event for one week and hold it on the 18th/19th October.
5. Port Macquarie round will be held on the Sat 22nd rather than the Sunday 23rd.
Our return to Port Macquarie for this year’s finale is partly due to the magnificent track layout, a favorite of many. We’ve only managed to experience it once, and that just wasn’t enough! It’s also a great holiday destination. A Saturday event is all the club could manage for us, it was that or nothing! So please bring the family and help make this an end of year bash to remember.
If you can arrange the Friday off practice is available, more practice, qualifying and racing on Saturday with a big party on the Saturday night. Sunday is left for a leisurely drive home or stay on and enjoy the attractions. We are currently arranging some fantastic accommodation to suit everyone. Again there will be more info posted shortly.
Remember there will be some helpful information, including details on accommodation posted about each round in the calendar section regularly so be sure to check there for updates.

They took the win by a mere 1.97 seconds over Lusty Enforcer. Only 23 seconds behind were Fourplay overtaking Dynamite in the closing laps crossing the line in 3rd only 3 seconds ahead of the B Grade winners! The round at Tamworth's fast, very fast track is approaching!
After numerous calls (and several fully booked motel/hotels) we have come across a perfect option. The Country Comfort would be happy to have us and have put aside 15 rooms which can accommodate 3-4 persons. They all have a queen bed, and a single with trundle! At $55pp for two and $42pp for three its quite reasonable, and of course modern and well kept!
It would be great if the bulk of us could stay together and possibly arrange a meal for the Saturday. For anyone who's thinking of making a decent weekend of it there will be a number of us there on the Friday night and staying for the Grand Final on Sunday!

posted 25/03/07 Top Endurance Team finds the King!
Kinetic Motorsport have made it their mission to find a chassis to take on and beat the countries best Endurance Karters.
Darrell Mitchell, Ian Mitchell, Justin Sydenham and Ryan Osmond compete in the AKA’s Endurance Series, TEKA. In the past they have enjoyed numerous podiums and wins both together and separately. After finishing second in the Championship two years ago last year was meant to bring Kinetic the outright honors they longed for!
It wasn’t to be. Let down by reliability issues along with a lack of kart speed 5th was all they could manage. Mid to late 06’ the search began for a kart to allow the team to perform to their full potential. After exploring numerous options one stood out as the most exciting, innovative direction! A local company who had put a wealth of experience and passion into creating an Enduro kart which would become the ultimate! ’Elvis’ is alive!
So excited about the potential the Kinetic boys ran some test laps at a local track in a kart supplied by distributor Colmac Excavations. These guys are enjoying success in the very first Elvis’ that were recently produced, as well as providing valuable feedback to the boys at Phoenix. The times we saw on a cool track in the early evening were impressive enough for the Kinetic Team to commit to running a Phoenix for the rest of 07’. "The kart felt fantastic and will win races, we are very excited about running it at Newcastle for Round 3 of the Championship"!
After an ordinary start to the Series in 07’ Kinetic, now Kinetic Buildline have support from Buildline Constructions and a good relationship with the karts distributer. With this and the new Phoenix Endurance Kart they will turn their Series around and be top contenders!

There are a number of teams already camping, if you’d like to join us you are welcome. Either way bring an esky, it’ll keep your water etc cold during the day and provide you with beers for the dinner. Could you please nominate on the Race Entry Form whether your team would like dinner and how many!
For those who would like accommodation not too far from the track the Cardiff Motor Inn has been popular in the past.
There have been twelve rooms put aside for TEKA members. You must call Michael or Kate, let them know you’re from TEKA and that you would like to secure a room. The costs are $160 for four people, $150 for three and $140 for two.
Alternatively there is the Formula 1 also not too far away. A great place to lay your head if you want something cheap and clean!

posted 13/2/07 TEKA point score system revised
With the increased number of teams on the TEKA ’07 lineup, we have revised the point score system to enable those at the back of the field to still score points (rather than stopping at 27th place).
First place now receives 45 points, second gets 41, then 39, 37,36, 35...
This should have no effect on teams at the front, but gives the new teams a chance to still compete in the B2 and B championships.
We have adjusted the points for Oran Park already, and the supp regs from now on will show the details of the new system.

posted 10/11/06 2007 Calendar

The series for 2007 will be the most exciting yet!!
A grade will have its largest number of competitive teams yet. The extremely fast and competitive Horsepower Racing and Buildline will move up to A grade, with plans for Streamline still unconfirmed. Has Dynamite (Jamie the smiling assassin and friends) got the ammunition to make an impact in A grade, I think so, and offer them the challenge to step up and ignite!!
This will leave the B Championship open to some great racing. Toynton, TDF, King of Parts, Kelly’s Transport, Ghetto, JBM, Havacrac can all compete for the top spot. I feel some of the new guys will surprise aswell.
There is talk of new karts, new teams and two new chassis manufacturers'.
The idea of next year’s series was ‘exciting and accessible!’
Three local rounds, with a fourth being close enough to be a one day event with the second day optional for practice and testing. Have at least five weeks between most rounds. Keep the ‘away’ tracks that everyone loved, provide one track we haven’t been to last year, and another layout we haven’t driven on at all. Finish it off with an Epic State Title over 8 hours driving through the day and night on 1.8km of the some of the best stretch of black stuff around (TBC.)
| Event | Date | Location | Length |
|---|---|---|---|
| Round 1 | 4th February | Oran Park | Sunday 5 hour |
| Round 2 | 3rd/4th March | Orange | 4 + 4 hour - double points |
| Round 3 | 31st March - 1st April | Newcastle | Sunday 6 hour |
| Round 4 | 6th May | Lithgow | Sunday 5 hour |
| Round 5 | 9th/10th June | Ipswich | Sunday 7 hour |
| Round 6 | 22nd July | Eastern Creek | 350 laps |
| Round 7 | 25th/26th August | Dubbo | 4 + 4 hour |
| Round 8 | 29th/30th Sept | Tamworth | 5 hour |
| Endurance State Titles | TBA | Eastern Creek | 8 hour night race - international track |

After a hard season, a lot of the engine seals have worn and broken. Post-race scruiteneering at Newcastle showed a number missing. Please make sure that for Round 1, 2007 all teams have all seals in place (5 per engine).
With the ever present threat of insurance liability making the day less enjoyable, we would appreciate if teams can be more dilagent in completing all paperwork CORRECTLY and COMPLETELY.
We were the first club to be audited by the AKA at Newcastle, and while we impressed the auditor with our systems, a few minor areas were found that could be improved. Teams correctly completing forms was their main area of concern.
After a small pep talk on Saturday morning, race day setup tasks were done well. However if these tasks don't get done early, this takes away from time on the track. We will be looking for volunteers ahead of the race day to perform these tasks. Eg, if live in Newcastle, we would like you to volunteer for race day tasks at your home track.
Don't forget about the TEKA Christmas Party and Presentation night on December 9. There will be great food, drink, friends, stories and music/entertainment provided by Steve "Flash" Gordon. RSVP is essential: Karen 0414 648 943 or email treasurer@teka.com.au

Triple 1 seem to have the outright Championship sewn up, although behind them the fight is still well and truly on!
With two races being contested Full Noise, Enforcer and BRM 2 will fight for the two remaining podium postions. Further back Able Door Services, XLR8, and Kinetic are close for 5th, 6th and 7th.
In B Horsepower Racing are in a very good position. If anything goes wrong though Builldline will be no doubt ready to pounce. Streamline are within striking distance of Buildline and Dynamite are close enough to take 3rd from Streamline if there not careful.
We’re expecting a great turnout for the last round, and may release some details about the very exciting series for 2007!
Grinners catering will be cooking a feast for all competitors and friends at the track not long after practice/qualifying is finished. We’ve experienced their roast before, it was exceptional and reasonably priced. Just bring and esky and ice for your drinks.
There are a number of teams camping at the track, all are welcome. Camping is an easy, cheap and enjoyable way to spend the weekend racing. The Cardiff Motor Inn has put aside seven rooms for our competitors. Some teams have stayed there before and recommended it, phone 0249546738 and suggest you’d like to confirm a room that is reserved for TEKA.
A couple of teams have booked in at Jesmond Villas. They had very limited space which is why it was not recommended for everyone ph 0249555888.
If teams miss out on either of the above and would like a cheap clean overnight stay the Formula 1 is not far from the track, ph 0249500244 or book at www.formule1.com.au

posted 14th May 2006 Round 3 - Ready to race!
Final arrangements are being made for Round 3, so we will be ready to race. To assist in making the day run smooth, please check the following:
Race day jobs - TEKA will be calling on each team to have a volunteer trained up in certain race day jobs. We will have a simple roster so you know when your team has a job to do. Jobs include: Tyre Allocations, Setup/Packup Scales, Setup/Packup Radar, Assist in timing system setup/packup, setup/packup Fuel Rig, Assist with loading TEKA trailer at end of race. We will come round with the roster on Saturday at Ipswich to get the name and preferred job for your team.
Getting paperwork done right - All event forms are now online, please assist by submitting your AKA Entry form for each driver with your Event Nomination form (or at least printing and completing before you get to the track). Also please print your Scruitineering Form and fill in the tag numbers before you get to the track.
Scrutineering - To ease the workload on our scruitineers, scrutineering will be available from 8:15am to 9:00am - then not available again until 10:00am (closing at 10:30am) - if your kart is not ready for the first session, you will not be able to practice until after you have completed scrutineering in the second session.
Please also ensure your fuel tank is 100% empty with the 7L mark clearly enscribed and colored - capacity checks will be performed during scrutineering.
Tyre orders - If you will be ordering tyres from TEKA, you must have your Event Nomination with tyre order in by Wednesday, May 31. Our tyres will be going up on the truck with the karts, so must be ordered the previous week.
Saturday night dinner - TEKA will be organising a dinner at the track on Saturday night. Cost will be $16 per head, which can be paid for on your event nomination form.
Please get your entries in as soon as possible, and don't forget to let us know if you will be using the kart transport service, or if you need any assistance with getting to the track or finding a place to stay.

posted 8 March 2006 The Longest 12 hour Ever!
The lead up to the much anticipated Teka Enduro was hot hot hot! Friday’s forecast was hot, humid and rain. Saturdays forecast was hot, humid and rain. The rain held off, at least until the drivers briefing on Sat night where it unloaded big time, I’m mean drivers, support crew and spectators running for cover big time!
This storm was big, real big! To run or not to run? Of coarse we were gonna run, bring it on!
Some teams took advantage of a drying track come the start of qualifying. Kinetic in the new Bowman held the top spot for a period until being pipped by not one, but three BRM’s. 2005's B-grade winners BRM 55 driven by Rob Storey took out pole - additional members to the BRM 55 team were Ben Schippers, Mick McAuliffe, Peter 'Pipe Smoker' Brien with the original Steve and Neil. BRM1(11) lined up second on the grid.
Team XLR8 would have to be happy with their new acquisition (a BRM), handling the intermediate conditions beautifully steering to third. Kinetic held onto fourth with a great effort from Stones Kartsport (Arrow) who created a four stroke chassis from a two stroke one coming in fifth. Team Oz was another warm favorite qualifying sixth followed by Westrac (well done Terry from Brisbane for driving down with the kart), Horsepower Racing, Allied 2 and Lusty Enforcer rounded out the top ten.
The start of the race brought rain surprise surprise. The guns set the pace up the front and the rest of the field enjoyed keeping up. For the first couple of hours the BRM’s dominated, Kinetic came back after losing a few spots to youthful exuberance off the start. Team Oz held good position along with Westrac, Horsepower Racing, Lusty and SCW. Cram-Enzed, Sleepy Head and Dynamite had made good ground and were also sharing the top spots.
After nearly 12 hours of unpredictable conditions the race for the minor placings was still on. Kinetic, Havacrac, EKA, TDF, Knuckle Head and Stones Kartsport had all dropped out for various reasons
For a period Team Oz were fighting for a podium before being passed by Lusty Enforcer who were making a comeback from twelfth, and Horsepower racing in their first attempt at the great race. Team Oz would not find out till after the race the axle had moved and caused the disc to rub on the pad, real bad. Sleepy Head were also looking good for one of the top spots until they stripped a sprocket with under an hour to go.
Not far behind SCW had loads of speed. The race was still on between Dynamite, Team Power, Team BRM 2 and Cram-Enzed. The latter stripped a sprocket and dropped several places, the other three team finished in that order with two of them on the same lap.
At the end of the day ‘rather night’ BRM 1 ran a faultless race and without any mechanical difficulties could not be matched. Terry ‘from Brisbane’ and Todd Maiden combined with a solid performance from the kart and Todd’s drivers to come in second. Lusty Enforcer made up two spots in the last half hour taking third place after coming back from twelfth. A monster effort from Horsepower Racing in their first event (with a lot of experience mind you) coming home in fourth position. Fifth was Team Oz followed by SCW Racing and Sleepy Head. A great result for Dynamite racing for the first time in their newly acquired Benson, finishing ahead of Team Power and BRM 2 (on the same lap).
Despite the conditions, after a full 12 hours of racing, the safety kart was on the track only only 2 occasions (next time the boys from TDF Racing might remember that karts need petrol to run) - a total of just 4 laps. This is a real testament to the mechanics and driver attitude shown by all.
For those who thought the twelve hour was big, fun, hard or competitive that was nothin’! Round 1 of the Endurance Championship is on the 25th and 26th of March at Orange. Seven hours of racing over two days, an opportunity to earn double points and a max field of only 32 is allowed. The entries are already close to capacity, it’ll be one hot start to the TEKA Championship.
